A brilliant French business idea

While being in Bretagne and Normandie we took our chance to hire a car and drive to Omaha Beach and up to Dunkerque. Driving as usual following the rythm of the traffic sometimes exceeding the speedlimit with 10-20km we never noticed anything unusual.
The more surprised we were this autumn receiving 11 different speed fines from the French authorities ranging from 45 to 90 €/fine. Obviously there must have been loads of well hidden radarcontrols on our way.
Alltogether we have paid fines exceeding 650 €. I called the Swedish foreign department who advised me to pay all the fines. Since Sweden is part of the EU there´s no way avoiding payment.
France is the country visited by most tourists in Europe. Most probably a large number of tourists hire cars unaware of all radars hidden along highways and countryroads generating speed fines. All those fines must bring loads of money to the state of France. What a great business idea !
