We have been in Boulogne now for some days waiting for the weather to settle.

The city outside the old town is nothing special but the old town is magnificient. While being here we took our chance to go to Dunkerque and visit the museum from Operation Dynamo.

Dynamo was the codemane of the allied evacuation being surrounded and trapped by the Germans in the battle of France May 1940.When you see the films and all memories kept from this worlds largest evacuation operation (where 338.000 British and French soldiers were evacuated while being bombed by the German Airforce) you realise what a humiliation and despair they must have felt. The two mainpowers Britain and France were in three weeks completely surrounded and beaten by the Germans and the island of U.K was the only resisting remnant of the free world in Europe. What a dark time.....

Going to the outer harbour of Boulogne waves from the southwesterly gale made it impossible to walk the outer breakwater.

Not until Sunday will the wind decrease and preliminary we will depart for the North Frisian islands/Holland Sunday evening.
