Arriving Leixoes (the commerciel port of Oporto) just before sunset I was struck by how ugly this port is.
The majority of the port consists of oil refineries and industrial areas. This is in contrast to Oporto which is considered to be the beautiful second city of Portugal with lots of culture and history, not to mention being the home of portwine.
Oporto is only 20mins away by bus/metro and well worth a visit.
The marina, allthough influenced by the Leixoes port is well protected and Dora Mac will stay here until next leg which will be up to La Coruna in Galicien/Northern Spain.
This last leg of 160Nm singlehanded from Cascais went well and like last time singlehanded to Gibraltar I woke up every 30mins. Traffic was scarse and I never had to alter course due to passing ships. Only worry was fishinggear allthough they are impossible to see at night anyway.......
