Fredrik left as planned Thursday morning and Saturday morning it was time to set sail and head north. Rounding Cabo da Roca and I was met by classic "Nortada conditions".
With 26kts of headwinds and 2mtr headseas speed dropped below 5 kts. Increasing to 1700 rpm and Dora Mac kept a descent speed of 5,5 kts. Plowing slowly into headseas is a tiring business and knowing circumstances would improve after midnight I decided to head for shelter in leeward of Peniche 40Nm further north. Arriving at sunset I dropped anchor in calm waters just south of the east breakwater in sand with good holding. Peniche is supposed to be a very charmy Portuguese fishing village with lots of good seafood restaurants. Perhaps another time when heading south again realising it was a mistake to leave the Mediterranean......
