Old friend Fredrik (he appears earlier on this blog) arrived late evening in Lagos Thursday May 11 and we spent a nice Friday in Lagos.
With a decent weatherwindow we departed just before sunset on Saturday for a 125Nm passage to Cascais/Lisbon. When passing the famous lighthouse at the point of Cabo de Sao Vicente heading north, we encountered a heavier North Atlantic swell on our beam and deployed the paravanes. The night passed without any incidents allthough unlit fishinggear appears every now and then impossible to detect during darkness. The fear is to have the paravanes entangled and be forced to sort such mess out in darkness.
Retreiving the paravanes in leeward of Cascais Bay we made landfall at visitors dock around 4 p.m and had dinner in town.
Cascais being an old famous bathing resort and suburb to Lisbon still has a nice appeal. You can either stay in the marina or anchor out in the bay.
Take a bike along the Atlantic coastline, going to Sintra and Palace de Pena, and a visit to Lisbon nightlife is on the schedule
