Having problems with the GCF fuel polish system this season it was replaced with a new polish filter setup. The gold standard would be the Racor but there´s a Chinese "Racor Wannabee version" named Griffin. Used by Seahorse Marine and halfprice I opted for Griffin.
Installed only some weeks ago and now when preparing for departure from Gibraltar I started to polish fuel into the day tank. When doing this, loads of air appeared in the clear bowl.Just touching the drain plug it fell off and all diesel in the filter leaked out. When investigating it appeared that the plastic thread in the bowl was cracked. With bolt, nut and diesel resistant sealing material it has been rectified and now completely sealed (obviously without draining function).
Randal helped me to find a new bowl in the U.S and as I understand the drainplug now has a different construction (design flaw?)
Perhaps Racor gold standard would have been a better choice.
