Heading for Sicily

So finally we had all papers arranged for our VAT procedure and good weathercircumstances. We decided to go to Trapani on the northwest point of Sicily (180Nm). Estimating a 30hr passage we left Valetta slightly before midnight to avoid making landfall in darkness.
We had a period of headwinds around 20-24kts dropping to 4,8kts but the majority of the passage was very comfortable with flat seas and a full moon lit all over the ocean during darkness.
On our port side we passed the island of Lampedusa only a days trip away and while coming up along the Sicilian coastline we heard the Italian Coastguard asking other ships to alter course since they were towing a boat with immigrants. It all reminded us of the turmoil in these waters well known in world media the last years,
