We spent new year at the Duke of Marlborough in Russel together with our Kiwi sailingfriend  Womble. After new year we spent some more days in the Bay of Islands with spearfishing and walking.Yesterday we headed south in the evening for an overnight sail to Port Fitzroy on the Great Barrier Island. It was a reasonably good beamreach in 20kts of wind, along the coastline of Northland with the Poor Nights Islands to port and Hen and the chicken to starboard.
At sunrise we realised the distance between Port Fitzroy and Auckland was to long for a days sail, and decided to go to Kawau island closer to Auckland.
We are now anchored in Bon Accord harbour on the west side of the island, and will continue to Auckland tomorrow(only 25Nm).
