We met the chief of Waya and performed the ceremony of sevu-sevu, in which
we drank the kava root that has some sedative effect altough we did not
feel anything else than some numbness of the mouth. The ceremony was quite
serious: no hats, no sunglasess, women should wear shirts but not shorts
or troussers.
We were wellcome to the island, were allowed to walk and snorkel its
waters, and we were told: "this is real Fiji"
