Still in La Coruna

Tuesday - La Coruna is a pleasant place to stay and the marina is quiet with good facilities so all is well.  One of the nice things about travelling is meeting like-minded people and we’ve enjoyed a drink on board Signet chatting about all things sailing.  We really appreciate the photos they took of Mira, it’s a shame we weren’t under full sail – oh and, rest assured, although it looks like we ought to take to the liferaft, it’s just the swell!

It’s odd being in Spain as history is happening with King Juan Carlos abdicating.  There have been naval exercises taking place in the area so, by coincidence, this is Juan Carlos 1 leaving harbour.  Last but not least, the final photo is the Torre de Hercules, standing proudly on the headland.  We watched it for hours as we made our way across the bay on the way to La Coruna and then visited it today.  It’s the oldest lighthouse in the world still working and the original building dates back to Roman times.

Back to sailing - we’re fuelled up, watered up, provisioned and ready to go, so tomorrow we’re off across the Bay of Biscay – 342NM to Camaret, so we’ll be at sea 4 days and 3 nights and hope to arrive on Saturday afternoon – wish us well!
