Highlights of the week

The first highlight was Gordon and another man saving a gull. It had got a fishing hook caught in its wing and then got another barb caught in its nostril, meaning the poor thing's head was pulled round to the wing. It took quite a while to free it but it was lovely to watch it take off and be able to fly again.

The second highlight was some people we've met inviting us to their Spanish home, and picking oranges, lemons, limes and avocados from their orchard - it was a lovely sunny day and we now have fresh fruit for Christmas.

Talking of Christmas, plan A was to have a Christmas Day sail but the weather forecast is talking of westerly winds with gusts of 42 knots and rain overnight of 14mm per hour. The marina staff have just been round advising people to put on extra lines so trivial pursuit is suddenly seeming very attractive.
