Blue sea again

Tuesday – time to slip our lines again, edge out of the marina and make our way down the bay to Europa Point.  We’ve heeded the advice in the sailing pilot and have a double reef in, which is just as well as the wind off the Rock goes from 8 knots to 24 in about 10 minutes.  Where are we going?  Nowhere.  Why are we sailing?  Purely for fun.  Out of the bay it’s excellent, blue sky, steady wind and dolphins swimming under the boat as we eat our sandwiches.  After a few hours we head back up the bay once the tide has turned and it’s so easy pulling into a familiar berth with our own mooring lines laid out ready on the jetty.  We’ve put Deep Blue through her paces and she’s got a clean bill of health – not a click, not a clunk from the rudder so we’re happy that’s sorted.  We’ve still to try out Monty but that’s an excuse for another day.
