We continue to make good progress with a great days sailing yesterday and
then another frustrating night of rain squalls bringing very variable winds
and rain. Still, we continue to eat up the miles towards our destination and
we are sailing no more than about 10 miles either side of our direct Rhumb
line route. It is likely that we will now head for the southern half of the
island chain, either Fatu Hiva or Hiva Oa. Being slightly further east than
Nuku Hiva in the north it should cut about 45 miles from our passage and
make it easier for Trish and I to explore the islands from south to north
with, not against the prevailing winds.
We are trying our hand at fishing again today but have had no luck so far in
this big empty ocean.
All are well on board, although a nice long walk would be most welcome and
we are looking forward to getting ashore and stop rolling from side to side
for a few days at least!!!
