With flights from and to the Galapagos booked it was necessary to work to a
fixed timescales once we had transited the Panama Canal. It would have been
good to have had more time in Panama to explore the forests and off lying
islands.
So we have now come 60nm south to overnight in the Las Perlas Islands, a
group of mostly uninhabited islands lying in the gulf of Panama. We have
had a great sail with pretty much all sail configurations used in the
changeable winds, with the big cruising chute flown for a couple of hours
pulling the boat along at speeds up to 10knots and reluctantly pulled down
when the winds topped 25 knots.
