Did we mention yet we arrived at Newport yesterday afternoon? No we did not, as we got kind of distracted by our welcoming committee that was awaiting us on the dock. Beer and wine to celebrate our safe arrival. All good and too much fun, out for dinner and then we expired pretty rapidly, so off to bed for a lovely night's sleep under the biggest duvet we could find on board. It was not until this morning that we realised that there must still be some people out there waiting in suspense to hear about our safe arrival, so that is hereby happily confirmed.

Yesterday's sail from Port Jefferson all right down the Eastern Long Island Sound was an epic downwind blast. Sails wing on wing as we went past the tide rips at The Race, all the way down to Newport. Forgot how excessively huge the mansions are at the waterfront here.

Washed our salty Cookie down this morning and she is now basking like new in the morning sun. TIme for us to hit the land after all those water based miles; another 552 since we left Beaufort, NC, which brings the total up to 1960 Nm since we left the Virgin Islands.

Cheers,

Geoff & Merel
