After a month back home catching up with work and of course friends we flew back to Turkey to pick up the boat from Sogurt (Captains Table). On route we decided to have an overnight stay in Marmaris one because we arrived at Dalaman airport late at night and two so, we could call into the agent to make the application for our residency permits to stay in Turkey. When making the application we came across a number of stumbling blocks due to the new regulations that came in on the 11th April. It transpires we now need Turkish health insurance, a Turkish bank account with 10,000 Turkish lira deposited and Williams birth certificate, all at a cost of £1200.
Time to make a new plan..... We have now decided to check out of Turkey leaving us with 12 days out of our original 90 to go back later and sail around the Greek islands starting with the Eastern Sporades heading as far north as Levros and making our way down the Dodecanese calling back into Turkey when we dare!!!!!!!
Our time this year should end with us being officially allowed back into Turkey around the beginning of October and we will leave the boat in Finike Marina for the winter.
