After our launch back in the water we decided to stay in Yat Marine as there were a few more jobs to be completed like putting back the sails fitting the new spray hood and our final checks before we could really go off sailing. Plus the most important thing missing was the Dinghy which when at anchor we cannot go ashore without it. This was to be the biggest surprise for William, last year he had spent many hours researching and dreaming of owning a 'Highfield' Hard Bottom Dinghy with an anchor locker. Well..... Surprise , Surprise Doug had decided our 3 year old dinghy had been stuck together too many times and had indeed made Williams dream come true. Together with a new canvas cover to protect it from the sun. Williams face was a picture and needless to say to this day 2 weeks on he cleans it every day.

Seconds after the new dinghy was delivered William took pride and place in what he calls His Dinghy.

Whilst getting ready to set sail we had time to enjoy some of the social events which were taking place throughout the yachting network from both Yat Marine and Netsel Marina situated in the town. The daily net which is broadcast on channel 69 at 9.am by the volunteer sailors brings together the ones who want to take part in the events and also gives good information on the daily weather and help with any problems your may have. This coupled with the Maramaris Bay Cruisers website set up by the legendary Gwen who's has been a familiar figure here helping the likes of all new and old in Maramaris is a place some find difficult to leave.

William and I went on a trip organised by Gwen to a small Turkish fishing village where we had a pleasant lunch. We all attended the Summer BBQ and the took advantage of the happy hours were we have met some new friends which we hope to catch up with soon on the water.

One last surprise was our friends Edward and Ina came to visit us in Maramaris.

So time to sail into the anchorage for the final checks and head out to some of Turkey's beautiful bays.

One problem ....... The bloody weather, it's raining pretty hard and back at home you have sunshine not sure how that works !!!!!!!
