Title: Day 6 - Frustrating sailing

Date: 29 May 2007, 1200 local time (GMT -6)
Position: 05:31.0S 103:26.0W
Day's run: 127nm
Course: 258
Distance to run: 2116

The wind is from the port quarter, and the lack of wind combined with the
awkward swell (2 swells are running at right angles to one another) means we
roll, the sails collapse, back and fill the whole time, regardless almost of
the course we steer. Consequently the rig is taking a hammering, as are the
sails, as are my nerves. I had to spend an hour this morning stitching the
bottom of the genow, where the UV strip had parted from the sail owing to
the constant flogging. Add to all this, for the last 24 hours we have been
in a counter current of 1/2 knot to a knot.

Otherwise all is well on board and progress is not too bad, despite the
above!

Does anyone read these?
