19 Aug Motor across dead flat/calm sea in extreme heat to Old Corfu harbour to visit chandleries, and on around Old Fortress to anchor off NAOK YC to await arrival of Angela

Tie up in grubby Old Harbour (on N of Corfu peninsular) alongside Swedish yacht itself outboard of Brit (who comes from Dawlish!). Chartplotter is way out. Mark 1 eyeball prevails. Sweaty walk ashore – to find chandleries closed for afternoon (not unexpected) but not open tonight as it’s Monday (not expected). Shame as there are a number of excellent chandleries here, and floating rope quite likely. Do spot filling station on coastal main road so get a gerrycan filled and lug back to D`fly. Motor round scenic Old Fortress and anchor inshore just off entrance to NAOC YC, where the posh myachts moor up. Adjacent Brit rows over. He also has a Parker 31(back in UK) and bought something with a bit more space to keep out here. Get new windscoop rigged. Works really well as long as some breeze. Skip gets haircut from Jane. No 240volts, so just scissors. Looks a bit tuffty, but after black bag shower and more hacking  declared an improvement. Go ashore late evening. See police removing number plates again. Stroll around classy part of town, go for beer in Old Fortress with stunning views down on bay and lit up superyachts. 2200 the place gets really busy. We get back aboard. Lovely C&N 150ft motoryacht Marala, built 1931, has gone stern to the YC pier close to us. Angela arrives late evening, and on time, plus big bags and alcoholic gifts (pink champers and Bombay S gin). Wonderful anchorage location spoilt by boom boom music from disco just ashore (and above us) going till felt like 4am.
