18 Aug – head a couple of miles N, anchor in secluded bay, and return to Agni for night
5nm
NW f4 late afternoon for brief sail S

Potter day. Slowly motor N in and around bays.V useful having the more detailed Nicholas Elias Greek pilot – even tho cost nearly 100euros and this one only covers Ionian and W Peloponnese. Most bays deep right up to beach, so not v suitable for us to anchor. Some quite developed; not as nice as Agni. As approach beach in one bay old man gets out of chair and blows whistle at us and starts wavin and shouting Only doing 1.5knts and no one swimming. Why is everyone so grumpy? Why not have swim zone buoys like the rest of the world? Press on and anchor in secluded bay bit further N (as above lat/long).Read books Lots of swimming – still unbelievably warm sea. Decide to head back to same spot as last night and have Jane’s birthday meal a day early, as will be in Corfu Town to pick up Angela (Brewer) tomorrow evening. Strong wind funnels down the straight, so quick sail back under genoa. Anchor close inshore again. Apparently this is Sue and Trev’s favourite cove on Corfu – small world! Swim to Taverna Nicholas to make table booking. Finish first novel of cruise. This really is chill out cruising now that we’ve arrived in Greece. Lovely meal and rose wine. Given complimentary (plastic) bot of red wine “for the boat”. Will let the wine connoisseurs (Jan and Steve K) arriving Sept try it.
