Sunday 24 August Motor N and along North coast of Corfu to small quiet cove Arias Bay as NW wind forecast

Depart Timoni Bay 0930 Lunch stop off Astrakaris Arrive Arias Bay 1615 21nm M3 S3 Wind builds after lunch to NWf4

Early prebreakfast run ashore and climb up steep path. No sign of getting anywhere, so scramble back down, row back on board. Breakfast under way as quite a few miles to do today. Pretty W coast, gives way to white sandy cliffs of N coast with narrow beach at foot. Signs of big landslides from undercutting wave action. Anchor off pretty harbour of Astrakaris for swim/lunch. Not enough depth for us to go in. Motor off E outside 5m contour and brief fright as depth comes up to 9ft (we draw 6).Sails up for last 3 hrs as NW wind builds fairway for Kassiopifrom f2 to 4 Boatspeed builds from 2knts to a decent 5. Drop sails to motor into entrance of Kassiopi. Expecting grock trap but looked very pleasant, must visit another day. Bit late and windy to go in and look for a space, so continue under just genoa a further 1.5nm to sheltered pretty Arias Bay.  Few tiny motor boats anchored, and one small yacht. Mbs leave for port; we reanchor in 26ft, just keeping clear of huge fishermans anchor on seabed that would foul anchor chain. Other yacht heads N when afternoon breeze fades, so bay to ourselves for night, looking out to towerblocks of Albanian town Sarandes,. Many twinkling lights after dusk.
