Monday 7 July – Moved on a few miles. Stressful night anchored with shoreline in Pera Pegadhi bay

V hot, searing sun. No wind till nasty NNW gusts 2000 till 0200

Motored a few miles N to Gidaki beach/bay, but rather rolly so trundle S to isolated Pera Pegadhi bay, right on the bottom SE corner of Ithaki, so not far to Sami tomorrow to pick up Rachel. Lovely calm day. Lots of swimming 29degrees again. Bad kindle signal, but phones full signal, and dongle works well. Go online and order some bits to collect when home. And do SSR change of yacht owner and yacht name. Have decided in respect of great times on Dragonfly she must live on and our new boat will be LIVELOULA. Google it. Amazed can do all these changes from isolated anchorage. No evidence of ownership, or anything, needed - only £25 for change of name. All sorts of folklore on change of boat name. Much involves Champaign – so will ask all this years guests to help with many ceremonies, just to be sure. Should mean much drinking of champers over next 3 months! Calm sunset (over high hills to W) then the fun starts. Gusty oven like katabatic wind blowing on beam, straining anchor and sternline. Only laid 30m chain as more would have been in weed. Is it enough? Skip on watch in cockpit till wind dies 0200ish. Rocna holds, chain tightens, sternline stretches   - but just stay safe of rocks at foot of cliffs to stbd. One yacht anchored out in deep water and weed drags offshore. Another decides to leave shore, removes sterline and heads out to anchor in deep water, all in moonlight well after 2400.Calms 0200ish, and skip crashes still in cockpit. Peaceful dawn. Interesting lesson.
