Saturday 31 May Nice sail/motor to Nidri. Anchor in Tranquil Bay, blow up duck and ashore to IBA. Boat shopping day 1 Late afternoon duck “incident”

Cool air less cloud today. 30% cloudy (high white fluffy ones today), so 30%clool, 70% hot Sf3, Ef3, after lunch WNWf4/5

Late breakfast, as Jane bity groggy after migraine attack last night. Not too bad, but out of blue after long long time. Used last of Sally’s Marmite (250gm jar) so move to second of smaller 125s brought out in April. Just 2 left till end of July. Will have to ration. Buy succulent strawberries, then cast off. Unusual S wind outside. Sail (mostly) E then N goose winged 3+knts up narrow sound between steep mountains of Levkas (to port) and Meganisi (to stbd). Motor thro “doldrums” to meet E land breeze at top end of Meganisi. Get well into tranquil Bay but still in 26ft. Excellent holding in mud here. Inflate duck and lower outboard – first outing for oboard this year. Have used fresh petrol. Fires first pull. Amazing, but still stalls in low revs so start in gear when time to go ashore. Prob simple adjustment, but don`t know way around little petrol engines. Visit helpful Kelvin at IBA. Nothing suitable on books. Left our card as David knows what is coming in shortly, and he`s off as its Saturday. Lazy afternoon as good sun, but cool fresh breeze develops. We swing close to sharp bits of wreck just downwind further inshore. Happy anchor set well so no need to move. V gusty  - one lifts and overturns duck n outboard, but just about catch it and keep motor out of sea. Paddles drift off. Motor fires after splutters, so dash to fetch paddles before they beach. Haul all aboard and stow. Squirt loads WD40 around engine. Still starts OK. Must get longer painter on duck, and not be lazy n leave afloat. Moved on bol becomes chili, eaten down below as sun again disappears early behind high hills early and temp dives. Where`s summer?
