22-24 August
We quickly settled back in to life in terra firma - Ann in
particular - and watched our first TV for more than 2 months - the final test
and England's victory to regain The Ashes. Herbie and Doreen McCracken are
perfect hosts and we had a splendid few days rest. We took a couple of
trips into the centre Belfast - which is regenerating itself energetically and
is really most impressive. Provided the momentum survives the
current downturn, it will be even more so in a couple of years as extensive
work in the docks area around the old Harland and Wolff shipyard - renamed as
the Titanic Quarter - is completed.
On Monday we all drove out to Whiterock on Strangford Lough
for lunch at Daft Eddy's, calling in to consult their friends (Sydney and Hazel
Adamson) on tips for entering and navigating in the Lough. A delightful
and hospitable couple and immensely experienced sailors.
