Title: Ardfern to Loch na Cille

55:57.53N  005:41.68W

Peter and Clare arrived in Argyll at 1pm and 3 hours later we were well lunched, provisioned and cast off from Ardfern heading south to Loch na Cille, at the head of Loch Sween.

The clouds continued to disappear and with 10 kts of wind from the NW and a bit of tide to help we were soon speeding down the Sound of Jura.  After a day or so of rain there was almost nobody else about and the weather followed the forecast and just got better and better.   We anchored just after 7pm - another new anchorage for us - a few hundred yards from the old jetty, in front of Keills Chapel, a beautifully restored early 12th century chapel.  The anchorage was quite perfect for the wind conditions with lovely views SW towards Jura and Islay and excellent holding in about 7m.

I'd always wondered why the baskets in the fridge were mounted so high above the base - it seemed very un-Hallberg-Rassy to waste all that space?  An answer (maybe not the official one) is that its the perfect size to store/chill an enormous quantity of wine.  So we celebrated the start of P&C's visit with a very fine bottle of prosecco followed by supper in the cockpit (local halibut with peas, lettuce and lardons; cheese; lemon cake and raspberries) with a bottle of burgundy and and old madiran.  A magnificent sunset with my first ever lobster (cooked) cloud - highly appropriate.
