We spent a couple of days in Camarinias waiting for better winds - we didn't fancy Cape Finisterre in a SW5-6 against us. A chance to catch up on domestics - shopping, cleaning, maintenance and water making (Belinda's forte  - she may reference in a future blog). We liked Camarinias: a fishing port with some tourism but not dominant, a lively waterfront, quiet medieval streets and an excellent hardware store that sold just about everything including a telescopic broom handle that I adapted to replace a piece of our lovely folding kayak that fell over the side during construction (deeply disappointing at the time). The Marina is great - very small with one very helpful man in his hut at the end of the dock.

We set of for the next Ria (Muros) on 31st July and motored most of the way passing 2-3 pods of dolphins en-route. Cape Finisterre is impressive and we were glad to round it in calm weather.

Once round Finisterre heading south we enter the Rias Bajas. Its almost like crossing the alps into southern Europe. The climate is warmer, the winds less harsh, its a grape growing areas, the towns are more prosperous and developed. The Rias provide protection from the Atlantic swell and create huge areas of protected coast line that are a big destination for domestic tourism.

We arrived in Portosin at mid-day. A very welcoming marina and sailing club with a beautiful club house. The bar/ restaurant on the top floor overlooking the bay is spectacular and the staff, Carmen and Camilla really excellent and super-efficient. A lovely evening on the terrace.
