CATRYN still held up by ice in NWP

All routes through the Northwest Passage remain blocked by ice with no immediate prospect of any opening, so today I’ve made the decision to head back to Greenland then on to Newfoundland. We’ve now run out of time to make it through in one summer and I’m not prepared to overwinter up here in the ice, so the decision was an easy one in the end. This is simply a pause in our attempt to sail through the Northwest Passage as we’ll be continuing next summer if the conditions look favourable.

We’ve had a great time here in the Canadian Arctic and my crew have been the best. No doubt they’ll continue blogging here as we sail along.
