Hello again!

Well, over 7 months have now passed since we ended our 2014 Arctic voyage in Newfoundland. It had been my intention to attempt again a transit of the Northwest Passage this summer and I’ve been closely  following the weather and ice predictions for this summer. Unfortunately these are not encouraging and it’s likely that the conditions will be worse than 2014, although of course, they may end up being perfect! Anyway, our second attempt at the Northwest Passage will have to be for another year. I’ve decided to sail CATRYN back to Aberdyfi in Wales this summer and will be flying out soon to get her re-launched and prepared for her transatlantic trip home. Joining me on board again will be my brother Pete. I’ll post our daily positions on this blog as before and I’m sure we’ll be writing up a few passage notes along the way.

Our departure date from Lewisporte will depend on the ice and weather conditions along the east coast of Newfoundland, but about 20th May is our target. Our current plan is to call at Castletownbere in SW Ireland for some refreshments!
