We left Cartwright this afternoon after sheltering from another 50 knot storm. There is still a large swell running but it is not breaking so quite safe for us. We have a little over 300 miles to go to Lewisporte in Newfoundland so hope to arrive sometime on Monday afternoon, but first we have to cross the Belle Isle Strait, renowned for its strong currents, fog and unpredictable winds. This is the final stage of our long Arctic voyage for this summer and we’re nearly there. The conversation between my two remaining crew members, Pete and Hywel, is becoming more and more focused on that first beer ashore!
