Arrived Las Palmas yesterday morning. Autopilot was not working and heading was totally wrong on chart plotter. Tried recalibration with several 360s, to the confusion of ferry captains but no good so gave up and hand steered sailed/motored. NO way were we going to hand steer across the Atlantic after that experience!! Jeremy then casually mentioned that his bag, which had been stowed in a locker und the chart table, had magnetic catches. Guess where the fluxgate compass is – yes – in the locker under the chart table. Removed bag and AP/heading back to normal!!!

Tied up at transit dock, checked in then moved to berth bang opposite chandlery/showers – which yuk – and Sailor’s bar.

Waiting for safety inspection which is late.

Seems very quiet this year. There was no queue in the chandlery and you can get a seat at the Sailor’s bar on the front. About 60 boats went on ARC+ which maybe accounts for it.

Ross Culbertson appeared last nite at the SB. We had a few beers and a long chat. He is looking for a berth!!! He would have been a terrific crew – aaarrrggghhh.

Still need to get some diesel and possibly a couple of extra jerry cans which means a few dinghy trips.

No wi fi in the marina which is a PAIN so need to go to SB.

Jeremy at the feterria looking for bits and other two scoping out provisioning.

Sunny but cool in evenings.
