Shortly after weighing anchor from Lüderitz, Namibia we came across a group of very charming small penguins swimming around and having fun in the entrance to the bay.

Then many miles out to sea we saw the water in front of Carango ‘boil’……….. as we got closer we saw literally hundreds of small seals jumping and diving in a feeding frenzy.
Difficult to photograph or at least for an amateur like me but hopefully yu get the picture. These seals seemed totally oblivious to Carango as we sailed straight through the middle of the pack - not hitting any I ma happy to report. Quite amazing and the first seals we have seen on this circumnavigation - very different from Sea Lions about half the size.

George very kind gave me a ‘BLOC” de foie gras and a jar of plum chutney for christmas so we had saved that up and consumed some if it for Art’s birthday on board.

Art, The champagne, the Foie Gras, the plum chutney and Vicky had made melba toast - plus ça change.

Later we had birthday cake made on board by Vicky - quite remarkable.

So we had a happy day - meanwhile George and Katerina had a weekend in Paris so we spoke by satellite telephone.
