The wind has dropped slightly so today we launched both the Mizzen Staysail [genakker off the back mast] and the Code Zero, our largest and fastest sail. This is only the second time that we have flown both these sails together - the other was with Rudi Peroni on the way back from Rhodes to Goçek in Turkey.

Carango loved it and in very light airs of about 10-12 knot surged forward at about 6.5 - 7.5 knots which certainly impressed us.

It is hard, from the deck, to appreciate the huge size of these sails and harder still to photograph them but Willi snapped this with his i-phone. On the left is the huge Code Zero and central the Mizzen Staysail and just visible on the right is a sliver of the Mizzen. I wish we had a pursuit yacht with us but we are ahead of most of the fleet now so none to photograph Carango for us.

This morning I have changed the software in our navigation computers from the Australasian continent to Africa and Middle East. We are at 089 degrees East of Greenwich coming up South abeam India.
