Having set off from Panama we sailed the 35 miles to Las Perlas Islands, so named as they are famed for black pearls. The Shah of Persia lived here in exile for some time after his departure from what became Iran. It was a strange anchorage with some confusing currents which caused many encounters of a slightly too close kind with neighbouring yachts.[We anchored first!!!].

Vicky took this pacific dawn picture this morning.

We have had a superb night sail with 16-17 Kts of following North East wind and seas which became longer and calmer as we progressed. I think we are now nearly in Pacific seas with much larger rolling waves with long amplitude.

Will here in ‘deck action’ changing the mainsail preventer, note rough conditions.
