Our next port of call in the Gulf of Corinth was Galaxidi which is a short taxi ride from Greek early history at Delphi. It is staggering that 3/400 BC the Greeks had this degree of civilisation. The site is a brilliant exposition of buildings including a gymnasium, Theatre, treasuries, a Stadium (where the straight running tract is 178.2 meters long - one Stade) - room for about 17/18 runners abreast but one thinks a lot of elbowing must have gone on with that numbers- the judges sat to one side about half way down the tract {not at the finish}. The whole layout of the site, well inland but with spectacular sea views, was very interesting and based on quite a steep hillside on mount Parnossos.

Messolonghi was the next pot of call after passing under the very impressive  Andirron Suspension bridge over the straights of Rhion.

Messolonghi with its stilted fishing huts somewhat reminiscent of Far East shores

We set off out of the Gulf of Corinth or more accurately the Gulf of Patras at the Western end towards Corfu.
