Title: Day 9

25:10.4S 72:38.4W

Tuesday - 1064 nautical miles on the GPS, 927 on the log and 9 days at sea, or is it more? Less? It all starts to blend.

After three days of force sixes and sevens, the wind has gone light but the sea is still a bit lumpy for that smooth ride we crave. The last two days have been overcast but today is the first warmer day, though still too cool for that solar heated shower which we both urgently need.

The fruit I bought at the market, very cheaply, has lasted very well and so far nothing has started rotting. I’m hopeful we will eat it all. Last night, concerned about the three young (and vey large) Chilean cheeses, I cut a slice off. A skin has been forming with some interesting fluorescent colours which made me fear it might be going off, but it was excellent, with a good structure and flavour.

Only six weeks or so to go now before we make landfall in the Marquesas. I am still finding it hard to grasp that we will spend the whole of April at sea. If anything news shattering happens, please let us know.
