Hello again!

Day 20 is coming to a close and it hasn’t been too bad. We started off with a nice walk at Selsøyviken. Petter tricked us to climb a summit (read: 45 m), which was high enough to reach an incredible view. After that we refueled on diesel, watched Hurtigruta pass, while we sailed nice and calmly between 0,7 and 2,3 knop. We weren’t planning on a long stretch today so we sailed slowly as we admired the amazing views nature has to offer. Two porpoises came to watch us as we watched them. Lambs grazed the islands… I wonder if anyone would notice if we took one? I mean lamb meat is great meat, but after a couple afterthoughts I realised there were a few practical details we would have to consider. For example, we’ve never filleted a lamb before. Perhaps a bit more challenging than a pollock? It may also be a little annoying for some, Katarina for example (because of the inevitable mess), although I do think it could be outweighed with the offer of material to make more thermal underwear “for a rainy day”... and the farmer who would maybe think he has lost his ability to count, and the lamb, of course, who probably wouldn’t appreciate being filleted by amateurs. So we let the lamb graze in peace. Probably for the best.

We reached Rødøya and the sun came out to greet us. Petter went on a hike while Katarina and yours truly pulled the kayaks into the water and relished on a fantastic paddle trip. A pinch on the arm doesn’t suffice, here you really have to grasp your thigh tight to understand how beautiful it is here. But I realise it may be a bit unsuitable to hold tightly onto your leg while kayaking… and it hurts too.

After the kayak trip Petter came back from the mountains where some eagles seemed very interested in his t-shirt. Or maybe they were just interested in the potential of nice meal. Petter heard the babies screech from their nest; “we want him, we want him!”, but Petter didn’t really agree so quickly he made his way down the mountain and gave kayaking a go. He wasn’t exactly steady at first but he got the hang of it eventually. The kayak complained a little about the weight, but no one listened of course, since it’s not a member of any labour union...

After the sight of Petter in a kayak we felt the need to calm the nerves a bit with a small G&T before showers and a fantastic fish dinner at Klokkergården. Ref picture. Amazing place.

We are staying at a stunning harbour, the sun continues to shine and we can all agree that it’s been yet another amazing day. The only negative was meeting the German in a big boat who claimed that they have a higher mast than Capraia, but that can’t be right. As revenge (in case it actually is larger) I thought I would tell them to stay up and watch the sunset since it’s sooo amazing here, but after thinking a little about it it seemed a little mean. They would have to wait til August after all, since the sun never goes down here at this time of year. In other words, life isn’t too bad at the moment. And that’s all for the blog today.
