Well I was intending to write about a typical day on Capisce for all you non-long passage sailors out there but bigger and better news, Ian caught another fish today, in fact 15minutes ago. An extremely large and rather heavy female Dorado (we know it was a female as Ian found the roe when we were gutting it). Jane is the cook for today so we are anticipating something fishy and delicious.

Right, back to a typical day on board.  We have a shift pattern organised so everyone knows when they are on watch.  This is working out very well as we manage to get plenty of rest between watches.  My (Claire) shift started this morning at 10am and finished at 2pm, Ian was on before me 6am to 10am and Tony follows my shift 2pm until 7pm tonight. We eat lunch at around 1pm and dinner is usually at around 6.30pm as this gives the chef, (tonight being Jane), time to prepare the meal, eat and start their shift which is 7pm to 9pm.  Ian then again follows Jane and does 9pm to midnight and I will be back on at midnight until 3am.

Night shifts are definitely my favourite. If the sky is cloud free, the stars are amazing and so bright. I watched the half moon rise last night at about 11pm from behind some fluffy clouds which gave the clouds a bright silver lining.  The phosphorus which appears in our little bow wave makes the water look as if it has been sprinkled with tiny diamonds, it is mesmerising.

Ian and Jane saw dolphins this morning, fingers crossed we will all get a chance to see some.

It’s very enjoyable being on board, it can be a bit rolly with the swell but the boat feels very comfortable. We’ve got used to not leaving stuff around as it tends to end up on the floor before too long.

Love to everyone xxxxx from Claire and the Crew.
