Gatun Locks - Atlantic Side

Canopus 3 on the Blue Water Rally

It was at night and the canal webcam is a little marginal, but here are the first BWR boats passing the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal and leaving the Atlantic (Sun Jan 27):

night is falling but you can see a string of little white sail boats coming around the corner...

they form strings of three - see the lights out there?  they are headed for the first far side lock, on the left of the photo (the one in the foreground is actually the second lock of the near string)

with a little imagination, you can see the masts of the BWR ships in the far lock - the near lock is currently raising up some big monster ship that obscures nearly everything

you can see the boats, still in strings of three, in the first lock after the water level has raised - Canopus should be in the very back row, on our left (and the big monster ship has passed into its second lock, making it impossible to see anything more)
