When we were a mile off Lovina a ocal boat operated by Abdul came along side and guided us to a suitable spot off the main beach and “Dolphin” Statue.  We were in good company as the only other two boats at anchor were also AMEL’s, a Swiss owned, Malaysian registers Super Maramu owned by Hans and Natalie and an Australian registered Super Maramu sailed by Jennifer and Michael Gough.  We had met Jenny and Michael briefly in Vuda Point, Fiji last year.

The Dolphin Statue at the centre of Lovina Beach.  Do not land there as there is a reef in front, go to the left close to the concrete jetty

We had heard from other visitors about Abdul who runs a boat help providing diesel, water, laundry, beer and soft drinks in bulk and boat watching.  His phone number is 081 338 255 837 and provided us with excellent service including the supply of diesel, cases of beer and Diet Coke and he watched the boat whilst we were away for a night on our Bali tour.  He also took my watch away for a new battery.  A great service.

Diesel was again a jerry can job but unlike our experience in Kupang which involved pouring in the general direction of the filter funnel this time Abdul had syphon pumps and 350 litres were delivered without any spillage or mess – a real result.  He also delivered the fuel and came with two men, his son-in-law and nephew, to assist.  We must acquire a suitable pump when we can find one for future use.

Fuelling in progress

Abdul was also able to put is in touch with Zai who was to be our driver and guide for our two day trip around Bali.  Zai is highly recommended by us and can be contacted on 081 7476 7639.  He can also arrange all sorts of other transport from scooters to a bus.

The remainder of the day we took off and prepared ourselves for a rip ashore to eat in the evening.  Elizabeth found a TripAdvisor recommended small restaurant called “The Secret Garden”.- 0887 332 1007.  They picked us up from the beach and dropped us back.  It was an excellent choice and is highly recommended.

Just to prove that we do get off the boat.  Dining at the Secret Garden
