Sunday was spent
recovering from Saturday evening with a trip into the town to visit the
medieval fair which is an annual attraction, followed by another excellent meal.
Monday involved a trip for
Elizabeth and I and five from Celtic Breeze to Santiago de Compostella by
local coach, the original plan to hire a coach having been shelved due to the
lack of boats arriving. An excellent and most interesting outing which
revived many memories of my last visit some 33 years ago with a Tall Ships
Race. As seems a feature of the Rally the visit concluded with a very convivial
lunch in a well chosen (by Tony Dimont) restaurant.
Returning to La Coruna was followed by
a sprint around a John Lewis like department store’s food and wine department
for restocking, taxi back to the boat and a shower and quick change in time for
the briefing for the next leg in the splendid surroundings of the Real
Club Nautico de Coruna. This was followed by a Tapas party, on the Club
terrace overlooking the marina, provided by the Rally. Our first real
opportunity to meet the other members of the Rally.
