After another bout of snorkelling on the very good coral garden we set off north again with failing wind.  By the time we saw this guy in his canoe we were sails furled and motoring in little wind.

We had read about boats made from sheets of “wriggle tin”, corrugated galvanised steel, and here one was.  He was at least a mile offshore and line fishing.  The smile is something with which Fijians, away from the towns nearly always greet with.

After a bout of indecision and because the forecast was for rising wind we anchored off the west side of Nanuya, Manta Ray Passage is on the north side of the island.
