Anchored off Porvenir Island, San Bas, Panama

Total run 998.4nm – Distance over the ground 971nm

The time of this entry was “anchor down”.

Porvenir is the administrative centre for the San Blas and a port of entry complete with an airstrip which runs the whole length of the island.

Porvenir – the whole island

We anchored in 15 metres and set about unwrapping the dinghy from its passage cover and fitting the outboard.  It was 1630 when we got ashore and found a friendly immigration officer who kindly got out of his hammock to immigrate us.  The official required to issue a cruising permit works eight till one so that will have to wait until the morrow.

Porvenir has a small “hotel”.  Andrew B note, beers US$1.50 each.

Back to the boat and a very decent barbequed flank steak washed down with the first alcohol for a week.  Detox completed!
