A combination of a party for both Mike and Kenny’s birthdays and opportunity to sample Kenny’s culinary skills with lobster took us up the western side of Mount Desert Island (MDI) to anchor off Kenny’s house alongside Nimue who were using Kenny’s mooring.

The photograph is from the house porch and shows the boats with the mountains of MDI in the background.  Those into meteorology might spot the fact that there was little wind and we motored most of the way through the islands and Blue Hill Bay in glorious sunshine.

Kenny, Anne and Mike had been shopping to a local lobster wholesaler and produced some huge lobster that Kenny duly dressed, stuffed and baked.  They tasted as good as they looked.

Thursday morning produced a complete change in weather; pouring rain and wind from the south.  We took the opportunity, with Anne and Mike, to borrow Kenny’s car for a round of supermarket shopping and to drop me off at the dentist to have a broken tooth patched up.  This incidentally was nothing to do with the previous night’s lobster but had happened whilst in Valley Cove and required a patch to stop further damage.  Now it should be safe until we return to the UK in October.
