Brindabella's Web Diary

Luckily Simon has started a new book so he was distracted from his
rumbling tummy while the galley slave slept on until 7.45am. I had a
bit of a sore head this morning! Two more Norwegian boats arrived as
we ate breakfast making four close by us now. A call from one boat
asking if we were returning to Europe with the ARC made us realise
that the new arrivals had crossed the Atlantic with us last November.
I guess we will probably see several familiar boats as they gather to
leave Nanny Cay in a week or so. We will be a week or so behind them
heading for Bermuda.
Again the day was hot and overcast which Si said was rubbish
weather for snorkelling. Knowing his inability to put a good book down
once its started I foresaw a day onboard today with our snorkelling
postponed until tomorrow. I decided to get up to date with the blog
and at last caught Ami on Skype and had a lengthy chat. She now has a
new laptop and I was able to see my beautiful daughter for the first
time in months. I planned to play with my paint box after lunch if
Si’s nose stayed within his book but ended up doing some serious
editing of photos from the three cameras. I must have deleted several
hundred my family and friends will be pleased to hear! Bad news folks;
there are still probably a thousand left!!!!!!
We thought it best to get dressed for dinner ashore tonight after
slobbing about all day in our nothings on the boat. We left an
American catamaran having a fifty sixth attempt at anchoring next to
us and nervously left Brindabella hoping they would give up and move
somewhere else. While sipping my mojito I could see their anchor light
buzzing about the anchorage like a crazy bee. Saba Rock was busy
tonight with many large groups that had obviously been there since the
start of happy hour. It was a great shame we had arrived when it
finished as Si paid $16 US for our two drinks! We were seated for
dinner with a great view looking out into the sound which happily now
showed no signs of anyone having trouble with anchors. Dinner was
lovely especially with a nice bottle of Aussie red and throughout we
played ‘Who Sang This and When’ as many golden oldies played in the
background.
The wind picked up in the night and the temperature dropped greatly
making us dig out t-shirts to keep the chill off our shoulders. What a
change from the heat of the last few days. I hoped the weather
patterns aren’t changing for the worst earlier than usual, especially
after seeing news clips on the bar TV of a tornado in the states. I
have everything crossed for fair winds on our approaching long legs at
sea.
