The last 36 hours has been tremendously busy! Bobbejaan went through her first rough weather and she was absolutely awesome, thank goodness for a catamaran! It certainly paid off to have the right equipment onboard. Bobbejaan is very well set up and she feels extremely safe. We had to put on our foul weather gear as salt water was splashing everywhere. We had salt water straight onto our face several times. This morning, I had a go and wash off all the salt but I will need a lot more water to clean it off.

Tuna = 0
Johann = 2

I've caught two yellow fin tunas! One is 6kg and the other is 8.5kg. Will be having tuna steak today! First fight was only about 15minutes. As per regulation, the first fish always goes back into the sea, alive and kicking to fight another day. What a beautiful fish! The second fight was a lot more challenging and took about 30minutes however, when it came onboard, it was extremely exhausted and we decided to keep it. I have changed my mind, I don't want to catch a 60kg tuna anymore as I am certain that I'll be the loser in that battle! Now my size is only a 30kg tuna.

Progress is slow as the predominant wind is in the direction we want to go. Sailing southeast then tacking to sail southwest. We had between 10-12 knots of wind last night and we were doing about 5-7knots. The weather calmed down during the night and today it is absolutely calm. It's like a big pond out here. Hardly a ripple anywhere.

Night sailing in the Gulf of Oman is not for the weak-hearted. We had tankers coming from all directions going along at 20 knots. At one stage we were surrounded by six tankers passing within a mile. Thank goodness that is over!

I can honestly say, I should have done this a long, long time ago as this is absolutely where I wanna be!

We will post some photos and video later.

PS.
It was a total rip off to get clearance from that agent at Port Khalid (Sharjah, UAE)!
