St Abbs

We're in Scotland!
St. Abbs is a tiny fishing village about 50 miles east of Edinburgh. The north facing harbour entrance would be terrifying and dangerous in a north wind, it was pretty daunting in the light southwesterly we had been enjoying. Following sailing directions carefully, we picked our route through intimidating rocks either side of us, heading for the east wall of the outer harbour wall, the only place with enough depth to keep us afloat. A local chap, Guthrie, headed over offering advice and help tying up. "We don't see many yachts, the entrance puts most off". We felt quite intrepid.
Such a pretty place, and the walk up to St. Abb's Head comes highly recommended, so we decided to stay for two nights and explore the coastal path on Tuesday.

St. Abbs harbour. The sculpture in the foreground is of wives and children of fishermen, looking out sea. It's a memorial to the 189 men lost off the East coast on one terrible storm in 1829, St Abbs alone lost four men.

A beautiful walk around the headland on Tuesday in warm sunshine.

With some rather cute and remarkably precocious locals.
