Taking a break

Having just realised that I am within spitting distance of Paris (which is not on my canal route) , not that I would want to spit at or in wonderful Paris, I have decided to take a long weekend break and go home. This is not unrelated to the following (a) I miss Faith like crazy; (b) we have for months been planning a major set of events this weekend to celebrate Russ Foundation, the charity in India that Faith has been supporting for some 24 years, and to which we are taking two groups this winter. The Director of Russ, Berlin Jose, is coming to Britain and we are hosting him and celebrating his visit with about a hundred supporters, friends and people who have been to Russ; and (c) my brother a Mark will be there. This is a not to be missed event, and I am not going to miss it.

Also, it is the anniversary of the day Faith and I met. One of the three most important and wonderful days in my life (the other two being the births of Effie and Sam).

So I return next Tuesday, to continue on different canals and complete the passage to Wivenhoe. See you then.
