Day One to
Kochi
 We sought Port
Control permission to leave and surprise, surprise he told us to wait and would
radio back. We sat and twiddled our fingers and ten minutes later “you have
permission to leave”, no safe travel, nothing. Why, oh why the people of Sri
Lanka are so sweet and helpful and all authority figures so difficult. Bear
brought up the anchor and we finally said ‘goodbye’
to Trincomalee.
 We passed a couple
of parked girls and........
 ........and a
sentinel on the starboard buoy.
  The sentinel
watched us leave and just as we were enjoying dusk
- at ten past six – autopilot failure.
Unbelievable.
 The first
fishermen, unlit.
 Later, spot two more unlit fishing boats.
 Pretty sky. By midnight thirty miles completed........
