William’s Sports Day to Bluefields, Falmouth

Always adorable to wake up to grandbabies. This morning Faye had to have special hugs as she had to go to school and we had to say ‘farewell’.

No nonsense “Ruby has to hug Beds too, grandma”. That done, grandpa had to measure all Ruby’s vital statistics for me to jot down as grandma has to knit some outfits for the best friend and dolly.

Later, we arrived for William’s sports day and I adored the pencil fence approved too by Bear, already on the list to do in Antigua. There it will be known as the ‘Happy Caribbean Fence’ without the top bits.

Will’s first event was to be high jump. The serious business of measuring proved an easy challenge.

The next two heights were also taken with ease.

The final height was a no no but an overall win for the champ.

Long jump proved to be hilarious, supposedly a feet together bunny hop, many children took flying leaps, Klinsman Dives and even a three faults for a refusal. WIlliam took his turn in a serious fashion.

Smelly Sock gathering race.

A wonderful smile to daddy. Then the very steady egg and spoon race, followed by sack on head race.

I was given the privilege of awarding the Competitors Medal, a proud smile and a victory lap with daddy. Then it was time to hit the road to head for Falmouth and a stay with Cecily and Martin. Purely because we had nowhere else to be.............. We had been warned that the extension was fully underway and we would see Martin in the assistant to the builders role. Cannot wait.

The biggest thrill was being greeted and ‘welcomed’ through his gritted teeth by Mr. Yodel Pants (not named by us). The man famed for telling everyone to “take your shoes off” and when asked how long you can stay says “haven’t you gone yet”....... got to love Martin to pieces.

ALL IN ALL A REALLY LOVELY DAY
                     A GREAT LAUGH
