Yesterday afternoon we arrived in Kalaw and walked to our digs. We passed a really, really glittery pagoda that was too much for my poor, cracking head. After the day, journey and our joint sad mood we couldn’t do this uniquely bright building any justice. Today on our town bimble we felt we should make the effort to give it its own blog.

Today, the sun was bright and the whole building shimmered.

I can find no information as to when the pagoda was built. The rooster (symbol of attachment and the desire) looks as if someone has given him a Christmas bauble, he is just as shiny even in the shade. The side wall reflected like a huge mirror. Up close it’s incredible to see each and every tiny piece of mirror.

The left side of the building was in full sun and even without a headache it hurt to look at and caused arc eye. Time to go inside.

The inside walls were painted but the pillars and alcoves were pieces of mirror surrounded by deep blue paint.
